I listened to this recently and was just floored...it is incredibly played. they are so focused and not rushing anything.

Couldn't agree with you more on that pick. 11/9/79 also has a smoker included in an almost identical start to the second set (Dancin'>Frank's>Estimated>He's Gone). This Dancin'>Frank's is featured on the Road Trips Fall '79 boxed set and ranks right up there with the Cape shows (don't forget the repeat the very next night in the first set). Jerry was having alot of fun with this tune in the Fall of that year. If you haven't heard that one, do so immediately.

I also would add, however, that many of you know I'm not a big fan of "Best Ever" judgements. All of the recommendations here are strong. How can we say that one is by far the "best"? For me, the closest we could get is maybe dividing it up by era, decade, or even just the year. But, outside of that, I'm always going to lean towards "What is your personal Best Ever".

hi SDH,

don't fret over the "best ever" terminology. nobody here thinks they have the final say on any tune or show (not that I have seen anyway). a "?" in the title is a good way to convey that message.

6/9/77 at Winterland is my personal favorite, with 11/9/79 coming in close behind. That Dancin' > Franklin's segue from 11/9/79 is fantastic!

Thanks for all the other suggestions, everybody.

maybe my coffee is wearing off, but what is RTI?

obvious choices, but i always go back to 8/13/75 and 5/9/77. but i think it is just because they are just so etched in my brain from years of maxell xlIIs in my car tape deck...
